We’re Balkia and we want to share our passion for slivovitz rakija with the world

Origin

Balkia was born from a confluence of friendship, tradition, and entrepreneurial spirit in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2015. Founded by Boris Bouattit, Philip Douw, and Lucas Behrend, three university students united by their appreciation for the traditional Balkan spirit, Rakija.

Their shared experience unveiled a gap in the Swiss market for this beloved beverage, leading them to establish their own brand, Balkia, with the vision to share the authentic taste of Serbian Plum Rakija with Switzerland and Europe.

Balkia’s mission is to elevate Rakija to global prominence, showcasing it as a premium spirit on par with vodka or whiskey.
